Ambulatory Phlebectomy
Ambulatory phlebectomy (AP) is the removal of varicose and reticular
veins through small incisions in the skin. These incisions are so
small they rarely require stitches, and pain may be relieved by the
use of a local anesthesia. Transillumination mapping is used to
enhance the accuracy of the procedure by creating a visual of the
course of the vein before the extraction and guiding sites for the
incisions. This procedure may be performed in the office and may be
used in conjunction with sclerotherapy.
