Sclerotherapy
This is a treatment is generally used for reducing spider and
varicose veins and may eliminate the need for an invasive surgical
procedure. The procedure requires the injection of a sclerosing
solution into the vein. The solution is injected through a
micro-needle, which usually causes minimal pain. The sclerosing
solution causes the vein to blanch or turn white, then gradually
disappear. The patient will be required to wear special stockings
to keep pressure on the treated veins to reduce bruising and to
keep the veins closed. They will also be encouraged to return to
regular activities, except vigorous activities, right after
treatment. Walking will be beneficial since it increase the blood
flow through the other veins.
The process may take several sessions, spaced at three week
intervals, for complete relief. Patients will enjoy a significant
results usually several months after treatment.
